0% VAT on Battery Storage

The UK Government announced in December 2023, that from February 1st 2024, there would be zero VAT to pay on stand alone battery storage systems.

Previous to this, battery storage was only exempt from VAT if installed as part of a solar panel system. This move comes as positive news for anyone wishing to add batteries to their existing solar system or those who wish to install standalone batteries to their home. The price of having batteries has just been cut by 20%.

Now is the best time to take advantage of this amazing offer.

Install solar panels to get the most out of your battery.

Optimise your battery by generating your own power.

    Why get a battery?

Home storage battery systems offer a revolutionary solution to harness energy efficiently and sustainably. By storing off-peak energy, these systems allow homeowners to take advantage of cheaper electricity rates during non-peak hours, effectively minimising energy costs. Additionally, in the event of a power cut, batteries can serve as a reliable backup power source, ensuring an emergency supply for essential appliances and devices.

Moreover, investing in a home storage battery system not only enhances energy independence but also contributes to a greener planet by reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Energy storage systems store generated electricity (e.g Solar/Wind) so that you can use the energy when you need it. For example, electricity generated during the day could be stored in a battery for you to use for general use in the evening when your solar PV panels are no longer generating electricity.

With the added benefit of 0% VAT on installations, homeowners can make environmentally conscious choices without breaking the bank. Embrace the future of energy management with home storage battery systems and empower yourself to lead a more sustainable lifestyle while enjoying significant cost savings.

    Battery Installation FAQs

How much electricity can a battery store?

Different batteries have different storage capacities, with the technology still developing very quickly.

Modern batteries can be expected to supply 1,000W or more, and we’ll help you to choose the best battery for your energy needs.

Does a battery require solar power to work?

Not at all – but solar power and batteries complement each other beautifully.

Without solar, you’ll still be able to store off-peak energy, but you won’t be able to sell that back to the grid. If you want to optimise your energy use, then both is the way to go.

How long will my battery last?

It depends on the model of your battery, but most will last you about 10 years on average, while the highest quality models can last up to 15.

How much does battery storage cost?

      From £350 per kWh.
